Nice when you are there but they tell you one thing then what they tell you is not backed up and it will cost you more than they say and when you try to cancel they say you are in breach of contract but they are not living up to what they promised. These people are thieves.
Everything takes too long at phone places
The $35 dollar lesson learned that I am sharing is --- there is a dead spot near the 4H Grounds in Columbia City. If you live near there at all, this affects your service. Don't be like me and assume it's your phone. Because they will *not* tell you about this dead spot voluntarily. And even worse, after explaining my situation, they still thought it fair to charge me the "restocking" fee.
The sad part is this is a mom & pop Verizon -- you'd think they have more leeway with policies than a corporate Verizon, and could be flexible to treat their customers right.
I purchased a new phone because I thought my poor reception in town was due to my current phone being very old and beat-up. Only after dealing with a salesperson and starting the process of getting the phone and activating it, putting in the sim card and all that, did he happen to mention that there is a dead spot right by the 4H Grounds, very near where I live. Still, I had hoped that the new phone might make a difference.
After getting the phone home and receiving my first call on it, it was clear it made no difference. The call was dropped and I had one bar, just like my last phone.
So basically I paid $35 to learn about this. They wouldn't budge on the restocking fee. At first, she said it was because the box the phone came in was damaged. I pointed out that the salesperson did that when they were demoing it for me. Then she admitted she still had to charge me (so the box wasn't even the issue, she was bs-ing).
Very helpful an knowledgeable
Returning the next day, I explained the situation. My goal was to have them waive the $35 restocking fee. I understand that it's corporate policy, and I agree normally it makes sense and is appropriate. However, in this situation, I feel that the salesperson, if they had known what they were doing, should have alerted me to the dead zone issue first -- this is something they apparently all know about. I didn't know about it until yesterday.
Avoid this place.
She couldn't even confirm that they were indeed going to sell the phone I had in my possession for 18 hours for a discounted price. She hinted that might happen, but couldn't say for sure.
